Our Teaching Approach
The cornerstones of Aveda Institutes’ teaching include the following:
Lectures, Seminars, and Guest Speakers
Listen to and learn with industry professionals, both regular instructor staff and visiting guest artists. Gain access to local beauty employers through visits, and even start networking with local pros while you’re in school.
Salon and Spa Floor
We think the best way to learn beauty skills is by doing. After putting in a dedicated amount of time in our classrooms, students can move to improving their learning and skills in our student salon. You can provide salon and spa nail treatments on real guests while under the supervision and support of licensed professionals.
In addition to learning by doing, you have the opportunity to start building your own book of business and growing a consistent guest count to take with you after you graduate.
This also gives students the opportunity to start compiling and organizing their own portfolios of work: perfect preparation for their next job interview.
Is a Nail Tech Career Right for Me?
Of course, if you love nails and the artistry that is possible with this medium, that counts for a lot. In addition, we find that those who thrive as a nail specialist have certain traits in common:
- Outgoing
- Artistic, creative
- Bold and inventive
- Creative
- Empowered and driven
After you gain licensing in the state of Idaho, any one of these careers may be possible:
- Spa or Salon Nail Technician (at a nail salon, day spa, or high-end resort)
- Nail Salon Manager
- Nail Salon Owner
- Social Media Beauty Influencer
- Nail Technician Educator
