take your career to the next level as a beauty educator!
Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls’ educator program is a 500-1000 hour course.
The instructor program is available at both of our Boise and Twin Falls locations.
Teaching cosmetology is the crossroads where passion for beauty and passion for teaching meet. Instructors have the opportunity to train the next generation of beauty professionals, which means you can make a lasting difference!
The instructor program at Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls is 500 hours or 1000 hours in length depending on your experience. Cosmetologists with less than three years of experience working behind the chair are required to complete the 1000 hour program, while cosmetologists with over three years of experience can complete the program in 500 hours. The instructor program is offered on a full-time schedule, which is designed to help you get out there and start teaching as soon as possible.
What is it Like in the Instructor Program?
Attending an instructor program will often feel similar to being a cosmetology student. Instructors get to learn more advanced practices and principles through coursework and lectures, similar to how cosmetology students learn. Instructors also have the unique opportunity to oversee the work of cosmetology students as they perform services in the student salon.
What Does it Take to Become an Instructor?
Finding students for our instructor program is different than finding students for cosmetology or esthetics programs. We ultimately want to find students that we could eventually hire to work at the school, so we look for people who are the perfect fit both for the educator program and also for the school itself. Employment is also the end goal of the instructor program, so even if we can’t hire on our instructor students after graduation, we strive to help them find an instructor position.
Does The Instructor Program Offer Financial Aid?
The instructor program at Aveda Institute Boise and Aveda Institute Twin Falls also differs slightly from the general cosmetology or esthetics programs. Financial aid opportunities are available for qualifying students who are enrolled in the 1000 hour program. Because of the short duration, students enrolled in the 500 hour program would not be eligible for financial aid.
The good news for students in both programs is that many students at our school have qualified for Pell Grants. Many of our students have qualified for grants that exceed the cost of the program, which means they can pay for the program and have some money left over without taking any loans!
